2023 Joseph River Estate Reserve Chardonnay
Product Info
Our multi award-winning Joseph River Reserve Chardonnay in 2023 was harvested from a single vineyard in Margaret River, fermented and matured in a selection of French oak barrels.
"2023 was a warm year that enabled the Chardonnay to reach optimal ripeness with great richness. After hand harvesting the fruit was cooled overnight before it was whole bunch pressed for natural ferment in new and seasoned French Oak barrels". Stuart Pierce, Chief Winemaker
Medium straw with pale lime green rim. Intense butter toast, roasted almonds and white fruits on the nose. The palate offers a dry, soft natural acidity and nuttiness.

"An unapologetically bold and rich chardonnay that nails the brief. All cinnamon toast, baked apple, poached pear, ginger, and nougat with licks of vanilla cream. It's all dense concentration, exceptional persistence, briny mineral undercurrents, and lavish oak seasoning, and it brings it all together superbly. Such an impressive wine." by Mike Bennie

"2023 was a spectacular vintage in Western Australia, and this is particularly relevant to Margaret River, which experienced a mild, long and dry season. The resulting wines appear to be excellent at this early stage, and there are whisperings about its comparison to the slightly warmer yet stellar 2018 vintage. Time will tell us all. Here, the 2023 Joseph River Estate Reserve Chardonnay is dialled up on oak, and yet the fruit intensity scales heights to match it. The wine has pristine acidity, streamlined phenolics and explosive fruit power. I find this to be easily the most delicious release of this wine that I have tasted, and I warmly recommend its enveloping, flavoursome embrace." by Erin Larkin
